The effectiveness is weaker against Pseudomonas, Streptococcus, and anaerobic bacteria. Enrofloxacin’s mechanism is to inhibit bacterial DNA helicase and interfere with DNA replication and transcription causing bacterial death.

Pharmacokinetics: Most animals have great absorption with this product in poultry with 62.2~84% bioavailability. The drug is easily dispersed through tissues and fluids other than cerebrospinal fluid. The concentration of the drug inside tissues is higher than in serum. The main metabolite is to dispose an ethyl group to form ciprofloxacin then oxidizes and binds with glucuronide. The main disposal route is through kidney which is 15%~50% of the original compound. The half-life of the drug inside poultry is 9.1~14.2 hours.

Drug Interaction:1. The drug used with aminoglycosides or broad-spectrum penicillin can be more effective   2. Ca 2+, Mg 2+, Fe 3+, Al 3+ and other heavy metals can chelate to enrofloxacin and reduce its absorption.    3. When enrofloxacin used with theophylline and caffeine, plasma cell’s binding affinity will decrease and the concentration of theophylline and caffeine rises causing aminophyline poisoning.    4. The product can inhibit liver enzymes making the metabolism of liver in clearing waste much slower causing concentration of the drug rising in serum.

Indications: Fluoroquinolone antibiotics. In treatment for poultry bacterial and mycoplasma infection.

Administration and Dosage: oral use, poultry: 0.5~0.75mL/L.
